One key part of being a Surrey Stinger is the socials we host, every Wednesday, during semester time. The best time for you to get involved is now! We quickly meet new rookies and establish who is really about that Stinger’s life. We welcome everyone to join us at our socials but we take our reputation around campus seriously. Find our rules, straight from our social secs below.
Below we present our Socials Roadmap for Semester 1 of the 24/25 season. The following page will be updated weekly, with socials revealed throughout the Semester. Make sure you stay tuned and join us!
Roadmap 24/25 Season – Semester 1:
Week 1 – Powercut
We kick off our socials on the 26th of September, co-hosting Rubix’s Powercut. Alongside MMA, Afro-Caribbean Society and the Filipino Society, we are excited to headline our first event since the Superbowl LVIII!
CyrusF4 DJ’s at this event making for an exciting night for us Stingers. Most of us are familiar with Cyrus; an ex-stinger who played alongside us during the 22/23 season.
Join us at 8:30 pm at Wates House on Campus for pre-drinks, before we head to this sold-out event.
Week 2 – Amy Winehands
We’re back on the 2nd of October. Join us for a fun, ‘wine only’ experience where you will be sure to connect with your teammates and other students at the University. Details will be released closer to the date. Pickup your tickets for Rubix in advance as this is where we will be heading after our social.
Week 3 – All American
We present the most anticipated social of the year, the All-American Bar Crawl! The Surrey Angels Cheer Society hosts the Surrey Stingers and five other American sports societies. This bar crawl will be packed and hilarious, so join us on Thursday the 10th of October at Hari’s bar from 6 pm!
We will be split into groups and have challenges to complete in bars and pubs across Guildford Town Centre. The social will end at The Basement – the venue just below Rubix on campus. The All-American Bar Crawl ticket includes a t-shirt, entry into every bar and pub, and a ticket to The Basement.

Social Rules
1. Thou shall not besmirch the Stingers’ name.
- The stingers have accrued a positive reputation on campus, and we intend to keep it that way.
- We have built connections across societies and groups which is important in the tightly-knit University of Surrey community.
- We expect every Stinger to conduct themselves with respect and integrity on and off the football field.
- Any Stinger failing to act appropriately can face repercussions from the committee, and depending on severity, the union.
2. Listen to thy social sec
- Social secs are elected to organise our nights out and ensure everyone is having a blast.
- Comply with what they say or else they may issue forfeits…
3. Enjoy oneself
- Let’s face it, we’re young adults at University and are here to have fun.
- Try not to get too much in your head and step out of your comfort zone alongside your brothers.
- We only get this experience once so join us in living it to the fullest!
