About the USSU BioSoc Society
Welcome to the University of Surrey’s BioSoc Society!
We are an award winning BioSciences Departmental Society made up of a friendly and welcoming community of bioscience degree related students or anyone interested in this field.
As a society, our mission is to host a broad range of academic and social events. So, whether you’d like to develop your career and employability prospects further, or just want an opportunity to make friends, this is the place for you!
Some of our academic events include external guest speakers from the industry or alumni, study sessions, day trips and opportunities to develop scientific skills. Our fun social events, such as but not limited to: movie nights, quizzes, games night, pub crawls and the BioSoc Ball aim to help our members relax and have a good time.
We also collaborate with other societies and raise money for charity too!
Additionally, BioSoc is here to listen to you. We welcome any feedback from our members and we can voice any concerns or issues you may have on your behalf. Whether that be through your course reps or individually, we’re here to help.
Overall, our committee are always dedicated to bring plentiful opportunities for our members (without you we wouldn’t exist!) and ultimately help them to enjoy their time here at The University of Surrey!

OUR COMMITMENT TO THE UNION
The University of Surrey’s Students’ Union is a central place for students to get access to a range of opportunities, advice and great events throughout the year.
As a society that is part of the Union we believe it’s important for our members to understand the Union’s role and what they can offer for its members.
We therefore want to ensure our members can maximise these benefits and get the most out of their Union Membership.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE SCHOOL OF BIOSCIENCES
As a departmental society, we have a natural duty towards our School. This responsibility is linked with our dedication to provide the best for our members.
We are committed to ensuring any relevant events and opportunities offered by the School of Biosciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the wider Careers & Employability Team are advertised to our members, whom can greatly benefit.
Feedback
We always welcome feedback from our members on how we can improve or any suggestions to the society. So, please do get in touch if you have any feedback you would like to share.
