FAQs
Do I need experience?
NOT AT ALL! Cheer is for everyone, there is no need for previous experience to be a part of Surrey Angels. Most of our members start competitive cheer at university! However if you do have any cheer, dance or gymnastics experience then we would love to have you try out for one of our teams!
Can boys join?
ABSOLUTELY! Guys are most welcome; our motto is ‘Lift Girls not Weights!’. Surrey Angels is open to anyone so please come along to our sessions to try it out!
Competition or Games squad?
Being on one of our competition squads involves training twice a week and learning routines made up of cheer stunts, tumbles, jumps and dance in order to enter competitions. Trials are open to anyone wishing to be on a competition squad and take place after the taster sessions at the start of the year.
Our non-competitive team Games squad involves learning basic cheer skills (stunts, tumbles, jumps and dance) which can be shown off at other society’s sport games where they will cheer on the teams and do a half-time routine! No tryouts are required to be on this team, simply pay for your membership and come to the training sessions which are once a week!
What else do Surrey Angels do?
Other than training we try to get together as often as possible for a wide range of socials. We hold both drinking and non-drinking socials as well as fundraising events throughout the year including our skate-a-thon, christmas meal, bake sale and more! We also run a tour abroad every year in the Easter holidays which is the highlight of every sports teams social calendar.
