Covid-19 related questions:
How is the current Covid situation going to effect the club?
It can certainly be said that these times are very up and down with guidelines ever-changing. However, as the new season approaches, we have high hopes that we will be able to enjoy and experience a normal netball season again so we can enjoy what we love; which is netball! The club will keep updated with government and the Univeristy of Surrey guidelines, but with all restrictions being lifted on the 19th of July, we hope that this will be permanent.
Please keep track of our socials or here to be updated for the new 2021/22 season!
FAQS
How many teams does USNC have?
We currently have 6 teams that regularly compete in various leagues. 4 of the teams compete weekly in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues. If you do not want to play in a BUCS team then we have 2 social teams that compete in the local Guildford Surrey Sports park league, which is just as much fun but not quite as intense!
If you just want to play social netball in terms of training and game play but not against other clubs, we also offer weekly social sessions for a fun, relaxed environment to play some netball!
In order to play for these teams you must attend trials at the start of the academic year to be selected. Look out for when these dates are or contact us to find out more about trials!
What is BUCS?
BUCS stands for British Universities and College Sport and is the national governing body for Higher education. They deliver the league programme for Netball and many more other sports. BUCS Wednesdays are fixture day for us at Surrey and means that you will either be competing at home or travelling away to an opposing university.
How often does the club train?
All of our 6 teams formally train up to 3 times a week with our amazing coaches and with guest and specialised coaches popping in ever now and again too! Training sessions typically consist of a combination of fitness, drills and game play. The 4 BUCS teams train on a Monday morning and evening, with matches on a Wednesday and then a super fun fitness friday in the morning. These are typically compulsory for teams 1-4, with teams 5-6 encouraged to join in on a Friday. However with the upcoming new season, we are looking to create more fitness and training available for all 6 teams.
Social sessions are once a week with anyone and everyone welcome to come along, brush up their skills and have some fun!
All of our training takes place at the amazing facilities at Surrey Sports Park.
