Meet the Team
Our committee are the driving force of the society. Every year, a new committee is elected by our members in our AGM.
Committee members helm the society in a variety of roles, and aside from their duties listed here, also produce the setlists for our Basement Nights. Should you have any questions, suggestions or queries, or even fancy a chat, feel free to reach out to our committee, or email us at ussu.nowave@surrey.ac.uk

Jack(he/him)
President
Course: Aerospace Engineering (Third Year)
Favourite Artists: Deftones and Queens Of The Stone Age
As President, Jack is responsible for helming the society, making important decisions, and doing lots of work (making everyone else do the work). He’s involved with all aspects of the society, and is a fantastic and wonderful boss (he told me to write that).
Iain (he/him)
Vice President
Course: Aerospace Engineering (Third Year)
Favourite Artists: Fleshwater, Deftones & Shiro Sagisu
As Vice President, Iain helps to run the society smoothly alongside the President and ensure No Wave is a welcoming environment to all. When you want questions answered or just a good chat, he’s your guy.
Sam (he/him)
Treasurer
Course: Maths (Third Year)
Favourite Artists: Tame Impala, Radiohead & They Might Be Giants
“As Treasurer, I use my epic maths skills to manage the society’s funds, assets and merchandise. As no wave’s self-proclaimed token music stats nerd, I also run the album swaps taking place during the holidays.” – Sam

James (he/him)
Social Sec
Course: Electronic Engineering (Third Year)
Favourite Artists: Foo Fighters, Linkin Park & Haken
As Social Sec, James is responsible for organising and running No Wave events such as Basement Nights, Pub Quizzes and Decades Nights. He’s also the primary “social media guy”, responding to emails, and running No Wave’s Instagram, Discord and website. He’s currently writing this in third person, which he’s struggled with more than he’d care to admit.
Dawson (he/him)
Social Media Officer
Course: Computer science (Second year)
Favourite Artist: Yeah yeah yeahs
As Social Media Officer, Dawson is responsible for designing the promotional materials for our various No Wave events. You can see examples of his work on the “Upcoming Events” page, most of which were done with far too little notice from the rest of the committee (sorry Dawson)
Hudson (he/him)
Gig Officer
Course: Electronic Engineering (Placement Year)
Favourite Artists: Foo Fighters & Led Zeppelin
As our primary Gig Officer, Hudson manages our Open Jams, and is responsible for managing basement bookings (“I let people make loud noises at allocated times”). If you have a question about how Open Jams function, or want to sort out booking some time with our rehearsal space and equipment, he’s the guy to talk to.
Chris (he/him)
Gig Officer
Course: Aerospace Engineering (placement year)
Favourite Artists: Anthrax & Metallica
As a Gig Officer, Chris is responsible for planning our No Wave gigs, and can usually be found playing various Iron Maiden and Metallica songs while at Open Jams on Mondays. If you want to find out more about the gigs we put on, or even request a spot on the lineups, then Chris is your guy.
Ffion (she/her)
Gig Officer
Course: Chemistry
Favourite Artists:
As a Gig Officer, Ffion can be found at our Open Jams, getting to know our members, and encouraging people to meet each other. If you’re not sure who to talk to at a No Wave event, Ffion is always a safe bet!
Wellbeing Team
No Wave’s Wellbeing Team are a committee-adjacent team of two to four officers, and are a fantastic point of contact between our members and their committee, especially for matters of safety and wellbeing. Wellbeing officers are not trained to deal with issues directly, but are instead here to direct any issues you have to the relevant University services.
Ollie (he/they)
Wellbeing Officer
Course: Theatre Production (Third Year)
Favourite Artists: Iron Maiden, Johnny Cash & Queen
“As Wellbeing Officer, I am charged with making sure that everyone is having a good time! I am here to be able to point you in the right direction should you require extra support.”
Harry (he/him)

Course: Psychology (Second Year)
Favourite Artists: AJJ, Femtanyl & D.R.I
“As Wellbeing Officer, I support the members of No Wave by making sure everyone’s doing alright, having fun, and point people to the right place to go to if they need any extra support.”
