Politics Society | 2022-2023
Join the Politics Society for free!
Welcome to the Politics Society!
The Politics Society welcomes all students of all subjects and years who have any level of interest in politics, or just want a space to meet new people and have fun! Throughout the year we will be hosting a variety of events and opportunities, including special guest speakers, bar crawls, political discussions, quiz nights, and much more. You don’t need to be studying Politics to join our society!
After a turbulent period of politics on both national and international levels, political themes are appearing such as health and the climate crisis; during the year of 2022, we will explore them further with guest speakers and discussions in collaboration with the University’s fantastic Politics Department. We aim to be engaged in both Guildford’s, and Surrey’s bustling communities, collaborating with the Students’ Union and other like-minded societies, taking part in Students’ Union led campaigns, running fundraisers, and more. It is a tradition that we end the year with the Politics Ball, so make sure you don’t miss it
If you have any questions at all regarding the society, or simply want someone to talk to, feel free to contact us! (You can find our contact details under ‘Committee’, in ‘About Us’, or under ‘Contact Us’). Our email is ussu.politics@surrey.ac.uk.
The Politics Magazine: Incite
The Politics Magazine “Incite” is making it’s return for 2023.
Incite is a Politics Magazine that is linked to the Politics Society at Surrey. It’s been inciting conversation since 2015, and this year it’s returning as an online blog.
You can check out Incite’s website here!
About us
- Our goal is to provide members with a platform to learn about local, national, and international political matters.
- We have and will continue to collaborate with both political and non-political societies, such as Economics and Finance Society.
- We love running our socials, and we hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we do! We will be running a variety of social events such as Pub Crawls, Quiz nights, Movie Nights, and volunteer-based socials such as litter picking alongside the Students Union. More information about events can be found here. You’ll also probably find a few Committee Members attending Hari’s Challenge, the weekly Students’ Union quiz!

Back in October 2021 we hosted an impartial educational event in the Hive on campus on the subject of electoral reform.
