Team Surrey Taekwondo is run by a group of elected students in a variety of roles.

Your 2022/2023 Committee
President- Abigail Boxall
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to be your president of Taekwondo this year. I will do my best to make sure the club continues to run smoothly as well as maintaining the clubs amazing team spirit!
I’m going into my third year studying biomedical engineering and will be working towards earring my blue belt this semester. Feel free to ask me any questions and I look forward to seeing you all at training soon!
Vice President- Maisie Deacon
Hi, I’m Maisie, I’m so excited to be the Vice President of this year’s committee! I am currently a second year Criminology student and started Taekwondo during November last year. We have a really great and friendly team, who are always here to provide any support you need on your martial arts journey!
Treasurer- Owen Larwood
Hi everyone, I’m Owen and I’m a final year engineering student just back from my placement. I’ve been doing taekwondo for 8 years first learning ITF before coming to team Surrey. As treasurer, my role is to manage the finances of the club ensuring we can give you the best possible experience while training and competing. This is now my third year in the committee so if you have any questions about the club, taekwondo or the university I’ll be more than happy to help. Looking forward to seeing you all at training!
Social Secretary- Kaileigh Pope
Hi, I’m kaileigh and I’m so excited to be part of this year’s committee! I’m currently a second year paramedic science student at the University and started taekwondo last year during freshers, and I am now a green belt! As your social secretary I will be running our social media and planning socials such as nights out and collaborations with other societies! I will also be one of this years wellbeing champions for the team so please feel free to come to me if you have any concerns or just want a chat!
WTF Sparring Captain- Daniel Baqer
Hi! My name is Daniel and I’m second year chemistry PhD researcher. I’m 3rd Dan black belt and was ex-president for the past two years but, now I’ll be your WTF captain. I’ll assist the coach and the committee in running sessions to help you perfect those kicks and form. We all gotta start somewhere…<3
WTF Poomsae Captain- Chloe Bassi
Hi everyone, I’m Chloe and I am a third year psychology student. I joined Surrey Taekwondo last year as a third Dan black belt and I had a great time teaching the team some Poomsae. I cannot wait to be a WTF captain this year and I look forward to helping you prepare for gradings and competitions. My favourite thing to work on is technique and flexibility, so be ready for lots of stretching and fun ways to remember forms. Hope to see you all soon!
ITF Captain and Equipment Officer- Berin Whitehead
Hi, I’m Berin, I’m very excited to be in the committee this year as ITF Captin. Im in my 2nd year of studing biomedical science. I’ve trained in taekwondo for over 11 years now and have a 1st degree black belt in ITF Taekwondo.
I love to teach TKD and I’m an instructor at my home club outside of semester and hope to reach 2nd Dan soon enough. I have really enjoyed the change in my training when I joined the university last year and started in WTF Taekwondo. I’m more than happy to talk anything TKD at anytime.
