Welcome to Surrey’s People and Planet group. The Uni is ranked 113th in the UK for environmental and ethical performance, thanks to ties with sweatshops, weapon manufacturers, and environmental policy that serves mostly as PR. That is changing though, continued pressure from students and staff is leading to real improvements, and exposing the deep rooted flaws of allowing capitalism to poison our public education institutions.

Join People and Planet to join the fight for a greener and fairer future.

This year we’ll be running a number of campaigns, likely to be focused on Fossil Free Careers, the Arms Industry, and how these issues intersect with workers rights and migrant justice. These campaigns (and any others you’d like to launch) are supported by our committee, but the real power and control of the society belongs with our members.
