At the University of Surrey Gymnastics Club we want all our members to progress – and there’s no better way to show off new skills than at competition!
BUCS Gymnastics Championships
Our main competition each year is the BUCS Gymnastics Championships which is held in Leicester. This year it falls on 4th-5th February 2023 and has students competing at all different levels and from universities across the country!
This competition is organised by the national governing body for higher education sport, British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) and contributes to Surrey’s position in the BUCS leaderboard.
For this year’s BUCS season, we will be taking both female and a male gymnasts. The competition levels vary from Grade 4 in Women’s/Grade 3 in Men’s (Novice levels), up to Grade 1 (Elite). We are keen to have all levels of Gymnast participate!

University Gymnastics Cup
For the 2022/23 season we want to take a mix of gymnasts to enter each competition held in this league. UGC is a national league-style competition held at different host universities across the UK each year. Generally there are 4 competitions spread over the academic year and a final held in Leicester in May.
As with BUCS, student are eligible to compete at any level, from beginner to the elite, with a progression system in place to keep competition fair!
The competition dates this year:
- 6th November 2022 @ Salto Gymnastics Club, Dundee
- 27th November 2022 @ Rushcliffe Leisure Centre, Nottingham
- 26th February 2023 @ Milton Keynes Gymnastics Centre
- 19th March 2023 @ City of Newcastle Gymnastics Centre
- Finals: 13th-14th May 2023 @ New College, Leicester
