FAQs

A Few Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does ‘Auti’ stand for? Auti stands for Autism Spectrum, although that wouldn’t be as catchy a society name!
  • So, what exactly is Autism? Put simply, Autism is a developmental condition. Individuals can have diverse symptoms, hence, why it is called the Autistic ‘Spectrum’. For most people, having an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) can affect their ability to interact with others and can mean they find some social situations overwhelming.
  • Why is your logo a rainbow infinity symbol? This symbol has been recently synonymous with Autism because colours are all different, it represents how individuals on the spectrum can be very diverse in their needs and in their personalities. Our logo shows an infinite connection with the colours: and that’s what we hope to achieve with our society. Everyone loves a good metaphor! (Also credits to Ives for creating the logo)
  • I don’t have an ASD: can I still join the society? Absolutely! Our society is open to anyone: on the spectrum or not.
  • I have some questions about ASDs, can I contact you? Yes. Reducing stigma surrounding ASDs and individuals who have them is one of our objectives and one of the best ways to educate people on the topic, is to talk! Our committee members would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have- you can either email one of them personally using their email addresses linked in our ‘Meet the Committee’ section, or you can email the society itself at ussu.autisoc@surrey.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can join our Discord!
  • I’m from another society/club: fancy a collab? We love a good collab- slide into those DMs!
