BSAC Qualification Equivalents

While we’re a BSAC club, we welcome divers from other training agencies too. Becoming a BSAC equivalent diver is as simple as getting BSAC membership, which we will sort out for you, and paying club membership. You can then dive to the limit of your qualification and use our kit free of charge!

If you are a BSAC qualified diver you might already have membership, and if not, we’re happy to renew it for you as part of the combined membership. Then all you need to do is pay the club membership!

Conversion Divers from PADI, SSI, SSAC & SAA:

The great news is, your diving qualification is recognised and you can continue to dive within the limits of your certification!

Also, if you want to further your training with a BSAC qualification, your diver grade is recognised as an entry level to progress to the next higher BSAC grade without penalty – it’s that easy.

For example – divers transferring from PADI:

PADI Open Water
Equivalent to: BSAC Ocean Diver
Can begin training for: BSAC Advanced Ocean Diver or Sports Diver

PADI Advanced Open Water
Equivalent to: BSAC Ocean Diver
Can begin training for: BSAC Advanced Ocean Diver or Sports Diver

PADI Rescue Diver
Equivalent to: BSAC Sports Diver
Can begin training for: Dive Leader

A full list of of all qualifications and their BSAC equivalent can be found here

Just so our instructors know what you are doing, we require proof of your qualification and then there may be a brief refresher of basic skills in the pool. To convert to a BSAC Ocean Diver level, there is a theory and pool session to address any of the differences between the diving organisation’s qualification e.g. basic diver rescue skills and differences in dive tables, which is especially important if you intend to train to Sports Diver.

Refresher Dives

If it’s been a while since you’ve been in the water or you’re new to UK diving then we offer refresher training to anyone in the club. Here, you can get used to being underwater again. Given the average temperature of UK waters, if you’d like to dive here but haven’t used a drysuit before, we’re happy to offer training for that too! Just let us know.

Then you can can get back underwater as soon as you like!
