Wednesday 3 June
Getting through the assessment period is never easy, so take a moment to be proud of everything you’ve achieved. We also hope you got to enjoy the wellbeing events that we hosted as part of this year’s assessment period.
We know there will be a few of you still completing deadlines and exams, and those who have deferred their exams due to extenuating circumstances. We therefore wanted to share some information that may be helpful as we come to the end of this assessment period.
For those still completing submissions:
If you experience any extenuating circumstances in the run up or during your submission, remember to use the EC process to extend your deadline or defer your exam. Remember you need valid grounds (and valid evidence if you are submitting an Evidenced-EC)
You can find all you need to know about how to submit an EC application here.
If something has gone wrong during your exams or submissions:
Depending on when your exam/assessment was due, you may still be eligible to apply for an EC. Students generally have up to 5 working days to submit a retrospective Evidenced EC, for things such as technical issues. This is because students can submit Evidenced ECs up until the Board of Examiners meet before confirming your results. Again, please check our EC webpage, or contact the USSU Advice team for support.
If your deadlines have passed but it is too late to submit an EC (for example, you may get a rejection response from the academic admin team), or it is just way too far gone after your deadline, your next option is to submit an Academic Appeal application.
To submit an Appeal, you will need to wait until you get your official ratified results (likely in July), when you will then have 10 working days to submit your appeal.
All the information on how to submit an Appeal can be found here.
If you are unsure about any of the above and want to talk to someone, please contact the Advice Team and we will be happy to help!
Again, good luck to everyone and we hope you can all enjoy a well-deserved break!
