What is Pooh Sticks? For any of you not familiar with the game Pooh Sticks, it is from the famous children’s stories about a bear called Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends. Pooh invented the game by accident when he dropped a fir cone in the river and watched it come out under the bridge. He then tried again to see if it would happen another time (it did!), and then again with two fir cones and he noticed they came out at different times. This then led to him playing the game with his friends, but with sticks as they were easier to tell apart and see whose would come out first as the winner! It has been played by children and adults alike on bridges and streams/rivers all over the world ever since!
