As you may be aware, the University is rolling out a new AI in Education Framework for the 2026/27 Academic Year which will involve some changes to assessments to ensure that assessments continue to support meaningful learning and fairly recognise understanding and abilities. In the light of AI developments, assessments are being redesigned to emphasise reasoning, creativity, problem-solving and reflection.
The AI in Education Framework has been developed in partnership with students, and the University would like to give students the opportunity to contribute to the design of resources like exemplars, videos, and assessment guidance for the new academic year.
What does participation involve?
The University is looking to recruit 5 student partners to form part of a working group for resource design. You will have the opportunity to tell us what you think would be useful for students, and to exercise your creativity in designing these resources.
What is the time commitment?
Each student partner will be asked to contribute a maximum of 10 hours work between April and August 2026.
How will I be paid?
Student partners will be paid via Unitemps at Level 2a.1, which equates to £13.18 per hour in addition to 12.07% holiday pay.
Can the work be completed remotely?
The first meeting will be held in person in April. Subsequent meetings and collaboration will take place via MS Teams.
How do I express an interest?
In no more than 150 words, please outline why you would like to participate in this project. Please send your statement to Professor Naomi Winstone, Surrey Institute of Education, n.winstone@surrey.ac.uk, by 27th April 2026.
