Wednesday 4 March
We know that weekends are often the loneliest time for students at university, whether you’re in first year or not. It can be particularly difficult if you live far from home so don’t have the option to visit family at the weekends. Therefore our plan is to have a different free event every Saturday and Sunday throughout the semester for students to go to - to meet new people, try out something new, and hopefully join a new society too!
SurreyWeekend events will be low cost or free to attend, and there is no limit on how many sessions you can attend!
You can find out who your weekly SurreyWeekenders are on the Union’s social media pages, as well as the What’s On calendar and weekly newsletter.
We’re inviting every society and club to host one free taster session on a weekend this semester. This would be a one-off event for you so there is no regular weekly commitment involved, and the session only needs to be an hour or two — however long your usual sessions are. Ideally this would be on a morning or afternoon as we’re trying to provide more daytime events at the weekends.
The SurreyWeekends events will be advertised each week, as well as any regular weekend sessions that maybe running. Check out the Union's What's On calendar to see the upcoming sessions. This is a great opportunity for clubs and societies to promote themselves and increase their visibility across the student population.
Please email Jenny for access to the sign-up sheet – dates are first-come, first-served! If you are already running a weekend event, please also get in touch so we can ensure to promote you as a regular SurreyWeekender!
