Last week, we embarked on a picturesque trip to the Cotswolds with the Students’ Union, exploring the charming village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Known as the "Venice of the Cotswolds" for its idyllic bridges and tranquil River Windrush, it was the perfect escape from campus life.
The drive from the university took us through rolling green hills and honey-colored stone villages quintessential Cotswolds scenery. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the village’s postcard-worthy beauty: low arched bridges, weeping willows, and quaint tearooms lining the riverbanks.
We marveled at Bourton-on-the-Water's 1/9th scale Model Village a tiny replica of the village itself and browsed vintage cars and motorcycles at the Cotswold.
On our way back, we stumbled upon a magical sight in Stow-on-the-Wold the famous "tolkienesque" door at St Edward's Church. Framed by ancient yew trees that seem to twist like something from a fairy tale, this tiny, weathered door looks straight out of The Lord of the Rings.
We couldn’t resist snapping photos was this the secret entrance to Middle-earth? (Or just the coolest church door ever?) Either way, it was the perfect whimsical end to our Cotswolds adventure!
