We took a trip to Windsor to explore the historic town and the surrounding area. The journey took about an hour, and we were dropped off right in the town centre so that we could explore straight away.

I opted to walk around and see the sights near the castle, which itself was an impressive structure, spanning a massive area of the town. I then explored the shopping centre, an old train station converted into shops and cafes, making for a unique and impressive area. After looking around here for a bit, it was time for a coffee to warm myself up.

The town's architecture is incredible and historic, I took time to take it all in, with the age of Windsor and the castle many of the buildings nearby are many centuries old. I also saw a few unusual buildings whilst exploring, one was even crooked!

I then went on a walk along the River Thames, which runs right through the centre of Windsor. The walk was beautiful, taking me through lots of woodland and greenery as I made my way to a boat lock, then turned around and headed back.

After lunch, it was time to explore other areas, including the famous 'Long Walk', a 2.5-mile straight line between the castle and the Copper Horse statue. With a predicted walking time of an hour each way, I decided to walk elsewhere after taking in the view!

Next, I walked up to Eton, which neighbours Windsor, famous for its boys' boarding school; it also has several museums open to visitors, which I had a look at. One was a natural history museum showcasing the natural world through many displays of wildlife, including some of what you could find locally. There was also a museum of Eton Life, telling the story of how Eton College developed and the lifestyle of the boys who go there. Much of it is like university life; as the boys live on site, there's even a range of sports clubs and societies to join. A mock-up of a bedroom from the past showed how living styles used to look, and a modern recreation looks just like some of the university accommodation we have at Surrey.

As the sun started to set, I made my way back. On my way, I checked out the Christmas market and ice rink that had recently opened, which had a lovely festive atmosphere.

Overall, a lovely day out to a very historic town, I look forward to the next trip soon!
