Wednesday 29 October
The candidates have made their voices heard - now it's time to hear yours.
When and how can students vote in the election?
Voting takes place online via our Elections Portal and remains open until 19:00 on Friday 31 October.
Voting is done by ‘single transferable vote’ (STV). This means that students rank their candidates in order of preference for each election, putting a 1 next to their first choice, a 2 next to their second choice, and so on! You can find a video explaining the STV process here - Example STV election – YouTube
When and where are the results of the election announced?
Results are announced via our social media @surreyunion on Instagram from 20:00 onwards on Friday 31 October.
Why vote?
In this bye-election, you'll voting for who joins your elected Union Officer team. Your Officers are the students who lead the Union and help set the direction for how we respond to student feedback. If you've got ideas for how your student experience could be improved, voting is your chance to support the candidates who you think will represent your views most effectively!
Voting is such an important part of being a Surrey student, and casting your vote is a great and easy way to get involved in your student community and shape your Union. We encourage all students to get involved and use their voice and vote to make a difference.
