Today we welcome in your new team of Sabbs who will be leading the Union during the 26-27 year! They’ve got great ideas and plans in mind for what Surrey life will look like this year, so we wanted to take a moment to introduce you to the new Officers who will be representing you!
Nicoelle, Union President 26-27
Nicoelle joins the Union’s Sabbatical Officer team as President, following graduating from her course in International Relations. During her time at Surrey, she’s served as both the Media Manager and the President of Filipino Society, growing the society to over 560 members and being named Society of the Year! Nicoelle has also been a youth ambassador as Miss Philippine Youth 2025, and received the Surrey Student Sustainability Hero Award in 2026.
Amber, VP Community 25-27
Amber is continuing into her second year as your VP Community! Last year, she focused on student safety and tackling the cost of living for students at Surrey, by pushing for longer opening hours at Hillside Food Court and working on a Campus Path safe route through campus. Before starting as VP Community in 2025, Amber studied Criminology, and also worked in the Union part-time as a member of staff looking after transport for Clubs and Societies.
Jenny, VP Support 26-27
Jenny is a graduate of Psychology, and also completed her placement as a Research Assistant here at the University’s Psychology department. Jenny has been involved across the Union for years, including as a Part-time Officer in the Support Zone, and as Charity Sec for Dodgeball. She’s also been involved with other groups including Yoga and Badminton! Jenny has also volunteered for the mental health charity Mind, working in their Media and Voice teams to raise awareness and challenge mental health stigma.
Mimi, VP Activity 26-27
Mimi studied Financial Mathematics, and before becoming VP Activity, she held the role of Team Surrey Chair as a Part-time Officer within the Activity Zone last year. She’s also held the role of Treasurer and Campaigns Manager for Netball, so she has lots of experience in Team Surrey! Mimi has also been a Student Ambassador and an Events Assistant, and took part in the Surrey Telethon Campaign to raise funds from alumni.
Waleed, VP Voice 26-27
Waleed has been a Data Science student, and whilst having only been at Surrey for a year-long Masters degree, he’s thrown himself into Surrey life! Waleed has been a Course Rep and a Peer Supporter, and has also led Pakistani Society as President over the past year. Waleed is also involved in plenty of other societies, and has shown great interest in the activity of the Union, taking part in the bye-election in semester one last year.
The team has just completed their handover period with the outgoing Sabbs, and are ready and raring to go with their own manifestos and ideas for their Zones this year! We are so excited to see what they have in store for you for the 26-27 academic year!
