If competitive basketball isn't for you and you just want to shoot for fun, join our weekly PlaySport and Jam session, or even create your own team and get involved in our IMS league.
Basketball at Surrey is open to everyone! We host tournament events and are working to make the sport even more inclusive by launching our own wheelchair basketball team in the future!
Team Surrey's Basketball Society is also supported and has a partnership with our local professional basketball team, Surrey 89ers.
For the 2025/26 season, our BUCS teams are:
| Men's 1st |
In the current season, they are the champions in the South East England Division 1 league - as well as the winner of the National Trophy after beating Birmingham City in the finals, representing among the best of the British university basketball teams. Players from this team also compete in the Surrey 89ers pathway team, a program that feeds into the 89ers, Surrey's professional basketball team. |
| Men's 2nd |
Our Men's 2nd team was promoted to the South East England Division 1 League for the first time and is competing at a high level this year. They have faced some of the toughest competition in the league, including the Men's first team for the first time. |
| Men's 3rd |
The Men's third team, which made its debut in the 2025/26 season, started in the Division 5 group and won all their games in the league to become the divisional champion. They will be moving up to Division 4 next season. |
| Women's 1st |
This international team of talented women is in South East England's Division 1 League, playing some of the best London universities, and they also compete in the Wessex League against local Surrey clubs. The team completed the best season in many years, placed as second runner-up in the Division 1 league, reaching quarterfinals in the Women's National Trophy, as well as the runner-up in the Wessex Division 2 league. |
