We are the University of Surrey's cheerleading society, consisting of four establish teams & hoping to introduce a fifth for Season 28!
We offer competitive, performance and development cheer, along with a variety of socials and fundraising events throughout the year. We pride ourselves on being a supportive and inclusive society - so no matter what your cheerleading aims are, we're sure there's a place for you!
Meet our teams:
HALO
This is our development team that is open to all ability levels and experience! During Semester 1 this teams amazing coach ,Josh, will focus on building all the basic skills of cheer (including stunts and jumps) in a supportive, fun and safe environment. During Semersters 2 & 3 athletes will be able to cheer at various BUCs games and show off their progress at the 'Angels Showcase'!
Training is held on the Stag Hill campus once a week and whilst consitency is key for imporving skills, we understand the need for flexiblity so attendance is not compulsory. Whether you have an abundance of cheer knowledge or none at all - Halo is a fun safe place to develop your skills and love for cheer!
GRAVITY
This is our performance team which has a partnership with the professional baskeball team Surrey 89ers! Gravity members represent Surrey Angels by stunting, cheering and perform cheer dances during 89ers home games.
This team trains twice a week across both the Stag Hill & Manor Park Campus' enabling you to make friends and learn new skills. This team welcomes individuals of all abilities and experience levels as coaches Millie & Kaycie will ensure you're taught everything you need to know!
**To ensure routines are game day ready, attendance to both training sessions and games are compulsory for this team.
Level 1 – Eternity
Eternity is our Level 1 competition team that represents the University at a national level.
This team trains twice a week, and attendance is compulsory. No prior cheer experience is necessary, as you’ll be taught everything you need to know, but if you have Level 1 tumbles (including roundoffs, fowards walkovers, backwards walkovers and more) we strongly encourage you to tryout! Regardless of tumbles, if your passionate about cheer, and interested in competing - please tryout!
Level 3 – Infinity
Infinity is our Level 3 co-ed competition team, training twice a week and competing at national competitions. This team requires dedication and hard work, but the experience is incredibly rewarding and so much fun! If you have a background in cheerleading or gymnastics, Infinity could be the perfect fit for you.
Level 2 Non Tumble
This is our new Level 2 competition team that will be representing Surrey at national competitons. Like Eternity and Infinity, this team trains twice a week, with attendance being compulsory.
No tumbling experience is required so if you're passionate about cheer and interested in competing, please tryout!
Beyond Training
Outside of practices, we host a variety of socials, team bonding events and fundraisers throughout the year. This includes: bar crawls, bake sales, karaoke nights, joint socials with other societies, talent shows, bingo, and our anual awards night.
