Existence

The Irish Society should exist to celebrate Irish culture and identity, and to share it with the wider University of Surrey community. Ireland has a deep cultural heritage , from literature and language to music, sport, and social life, that deserves representation on campus. The society would provide a welcoming space for Irish students studying away from home, helping them connect, find support, and feel part of a community. It would also offer all students, regardless of background, the chance to experience Irish traditions, events, and hospitality in a friendly, inclusive environment. Beyond celebration, the society would enrich campus life by organising cultural events, collaborations, and charitable initiatives that bring people together. It would embody the Irish spirit of openness, humour, and togetherness, values that make any university a better place to live and learn.
