Aims

Our society's primary aim is to establish a vibrant and inclusive community for Portuguese-speaking students at the University of Surrey. We want to be more than just a club; we want to be a home. Our goal is to provide a welcoming space where students can celebrate their shared heritage, connect with others who understand their cultural background, and create a strong support network. We plan to achieve this through a diverse range of social and cultural events. Ultimately, we aim to help every member feel a sense of belonging and make lasting friendships that enrich their university experience.

Existence

A Portuguese-speaking society is an essential addition to the University of Surrey's diverse student body. It addresses a real need for a dedicated space where students from Portuguese-speaking backgrounds can find their community. While the university offers many societies, a group specifically for this demographic provides a unique opportunity for reconnection and cultural affirmation. For many, having a community that shares their language and traditions can be an invaluable way to feel more at home, whether they've just moved to the UK or have lived here for a while. By fostering this sense of belonging, we not only improve the well-being of our members but also contribute to a more inclusive and multicultural campus environment for everyone.
