About us:

The University of Surrey Netball Club (USNC) is one of the largest and most competitive sports clubs at the university. We are proud to offer opportunities for players of all abilities, whether you’re looking to compete at a high level, play socially or trying netball for the first time. The USNC is the club for you.

Competitive Netball:

Our competitive programme provides opportunities for players who want to train and compete at a high level. We have four teams competing in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues, going head to head with other universities across the South East.

Training is led by experienced coaches who focus on developing skills, fitness and teamwork. Players benefit from structured training sessions, regular match play, performance analysis, and a supportive environment that encourages continual improvement throughout the season.

Development & Social Netball:

Our development programme provides opportunities for players new to netball, those wanting to improve their skills and confidence, or wanting to work towards BUCS selection. Our three development teams compete in the local Guildford league giving players a chance to play regular fixtures. 

Furthermore, our development squads also play in the South East Development Championship (SEDC), which allows them to partake in tournaments against other universities. Our club has won the SEDC every year since it was started in 2023.

For those wanting a more relaxed experience, our social netball sessions (PlaySport) offer a fun and welcoming environment to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy the game without the need for commitment. Sessions take place on Thursdays 5-6pm, but follow our instagram for any updates and changes to the session times.

Club Culture & Community:

At USNC, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming club where every member feels valued, regardless of experience or ability. Our culture is built on teamwork, respect and support of one another, both on and off the court.

Beyond netball, we offer a strong social community of events such as:

Weekly socials: every Wednesday, we host free socials open to all our members that have different themes to bring our club community together.

Collaborations: We team up with other sports clubs and societies for tournaments, joint socials and charity events.

Wellbeing focus: we take part in university-run wellbeing campaigns, such as Mental Health Awareness Day and also have our club wellbeing champs focus on our members to help create a supportive club environment.

Charity: Our club is proud to support our chosen charities, throughout the year the club takes part in awareness months and fundraising events to raise money. This past year we raised over £4000 for various charities.

Families: This coming year we will be introducing families. Families will be made of a mixture of members from our competitive and development teams, which will partake in tournaments to compete against other families. This will allow for our members to mix with those not on their squads.
