No Wave

If it’s not charts, it’s No Wave! We’re the University’s longest running active society, lovers of all things alternative music. Metal, indie, punk, folk - you name it, we rock with it! Uniting everyone, whether they play an instrument or just like good music. We offer a variety of socials and events. Every Monday from 7:30 pm to 10 pm we have open jams in the Basement, underneath Rubix. Musicians can informally come together and play whatever songs they want, or just jam out! We take requests in our Discord server beforehand in case you and other members wish to practice something for the weeks ahead. Musicians are free to bring along their own instruments and we also have a drum kit for you to use. If you don’t play an instrument, don’t worry! Just sit back, relax, enjoy some tunes and make new friends. Every Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 11 pm we have our regular social at Wates House. Every week, each member can add up to 3 songs of their choosing to a communal playlist that gets played over the speakers. It’s a great chance to get with your mates, introduce each other to your favourite songs, socialise and just unwind. We also have certain themed nights for our playlists, prompting you to add songs from specific decades for example, so keep your eyes and ears peeled! We also host proper gigs, where our talented members’ bands get together, sometimes with non-uni bands, to deliver electrifying performances! On top of these, we have other events, such as our popular pub quiz nights and annual barbecue throughout the year, so there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a serious or casual fan of alternative music, we make sure you’ll feel welcomed in our community!
