Aims

As Nutrition and Dietetics students, we are passionate about sharing our love for food, nutrition and healthy eating. We want to empower students to use food as a way to socialise and connect, as well as optimise their wellbeing. We aim to broaden our reach all students across the university, irrespective of their courses. Through exciting, interactive and enjoyable events, we want to bring people of cultures and backgrounds together to take advantage of nutrition both academically and personally. We recognise that food plays a fundamental role in many cultures and society as a whole, and we want to create a community that fosters a connection around food, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate health and wellness. By investing in this society, you are investing in the knowledge, happiness and overall wellbeing of students at the University of Surrey, and helping to develop an inclusive society. We are determined in enhancing the lives of students at Surrey, not just today but for years to come. Below we have broken down our key objectives for the year into 5 main categories: 1. EDUCATION: Debunking nutrition myths and facilitating professional development 2. COLLABORATION: Uniting students and celebrating diversity through food 3. SECURITY AND SUSTAINABILITY: reducing food waste and insecurity 4. INCLUSIVITY: ensuring our message addresses the needs of all our students 5. VOLUNTEERING: giving back to the wider community, enhancing the universities image

Existence

1. To build a supportive and inclusive student community We foster an inclusive environment where any students who are interested in Nutrition, Food and Health can connect, learn more about their love for food, share experiences, support one another, and have their interests represented within the University. 2. To enhance academic learning and professional development We provide opportunities that support students’ learning and interests through educational and enjoyable events, workshops, guest speakers, and career-focused activities, helping members develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for their future, but also provide a space for enjoyment outside of academics. 3. To promote evidence-based nutrition and public health awareness We encourage critical thinking and engagement with current nutrition and public health topics, supporting the understanding and application of evidence-based practice. 4. To facilitate networking with professionals and organisations We connect students with dietitians, nutrition professionals, alumni, employers, and relevant organisations to support career exploration, mentorship, and engagement.
