-£30We run an inclusive and welcoming target rifle club, open to all ability levels. Everyone in our club has a genuine passion for shooting and we love having the opportunity to offer this sport to the students at the University of Surrey. We shoot smallbore and fullbore target rifle, ranging from 25yds all the way to 1000yds, exclusively with iron sights. We do our weekly training at two local ranges, one being in Godalming (smallbore) and the other in Woking (fullbore). We compete in BUCS competitions across the country, and welcome all newcomers to take part in these! We provide all of the kit and transport so students can just show up and enjoy what the sport has to offer.
Our club is in very high demand, with an average of over 200 signups at Freshers Fair each year, so we do run a selection process for our competition membership spots. But don't be detterred, because we love training beginners, so regardless of your abilities/experience, we would love if you came and tried out!
We boast a range of abilities at our club, with some of our shooters being international level shots, representing their home country. We support people's shooting careers in whatever way they need, whether that it by offering tailored 1-2-1 coaching or funding to attend important competitions, we are here to help!
Outside of our regular training, we participate in fun have-a-go sessions which gives our members the opportunity to try out other disciplines such as gallery rifle or clay pigeon shooting. There is really something for everyone at our club, so if you're interested in joining us, please reach out!

Aims
The club aims to: provide regular, safe, and well-coached training sessions in Smallbore, Fullbore, and Sporting Clays shooting; compete successfully in BUCS competitions and develop members to a competition-ready standard; grow and retain membership by making the sport as accessible and affordable as possible through subsidised sessions; upskill members through RCO and coaching qualifications to ensure the club's long-term sustainability; and foster a welcoming, inclusive club culture with a strong social element that keeps members engaged throughout the academic year.
Existence
The University of Surrey Rifle Club exists to provide students with access to the sport of target rifle shooting across multiple disciplines — including Smallbore, Fullbore, and Sporting Clays. Shooting is one of the most inclusive sports available, welcoming participants regardless of gender, age, ability, or experience. The club offers a structured pathway from complete beginner to competitive BUCS-level athlete, supported by qualified coaches and experienced committee members. It provides a unique sporting opportunity not widely available elsewhere on campus, fostering teamwork, discipline, focus, and a strong sense of community among its members.
