Sapphic Society

Constitution

Aims

Our aims as a society are to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all sapphic students across campus. We aim to increase visibility and understanding of sapphic identities on campus, and to celebrate the diversity of sapphic experiences through events, discussions, and campaigns. Although there is already an LGBT society on campus, the complexity and intersectionality of being a queer woman today call for a space where we can share, discuss, and support each other through our university experiences. We are looking to work closely with the LGBT Society to educate and foster a healthy queer community on campus.

Existence

Although there is already an LGBT+ society on campus, the complexity and intersectionality of being a queer woman today calls for a dedicated space that reflects our unique experiences. Navigating the intersections of gender, sexuality, and identity often presents distinct challenges around visibility, belonging, and representation. The Sapphic Society exists to provide a supportive and understanding community where sapphic students can share, connect, and celebrate their identities without needing to simplify or explain them. By centering sapphic voices, the society aims to foster solidarity, empowerment, and joy within the wider university community.
