UAS Team Peryton

We compete in the IMechE UAS challenge and the BMFA Design, Build, Fly challenge. 

Throughout the year, we design our aircraft to score as many points as possible during the competition, submitting reports to the IMechE. In semester 2, we build the aircraft and test it at a model flying club with the help of an experienced model aircraft pilot. 
At the end of June or beginning of July, some team members travel to BMFA Buckminster and camp for three nights to present the aircraft and compete in the challenge course. 
The society targets engineering students but is open to everyone. New members are encouraged to take part in the BMFA Design, Build, Fly Challenge (with a shorter competition earlier in June) during their first year with the society, so they can have more design input and learn about these projects from the typically more experienced IMechE challenge team.
