ENtrepreneurial ACTion for others creates a better world for US all
Firstly we currently do 3 projects in line with the 17 SDGs given by the UN. One of our projects include having community fridges across Guildford including ZERO and our Community Hub. This supports rising living costs and reducing food poverty as well as food waste.
Another project is interactive theatrical performances that we carry out at schools to help children with mental health issues. We have successfully been to 3 schools since the beginning of the academic year and intend to do more. This has had very positive feedback so far.
Lastly, we started a project in June last year called ThinkPink. In Sri Lanka, 90% of women aged 15–35 face harassment on public transport, with only 4% reporting these incidents. ThinkPink tackles this issue head-on by fostering safer, inclusive transport options, promoting women’s empowerment, and driving impactful social change. In collaboration with the Rosie May Foundation, ThinkPink trains single mothers to obtain driving licences and access tuk-tuks for income generation. However, our vision extends further. To address language barriers and safety concerns, we are developing an app inspired by Uber, tailored to bridge communication gaps between local tuk-tuk drivers and international tourists. This platform broadens their customer base while ensuring safer rides, exclusively for women, children, and couples.
We have gathered a couple of 2nd year Computer Science students to help us develop this app. Recently, we have finished developing the app and now we are testing the app in Sri Lanka.
In December 2024, ThinkPink went to the Rothschild & Co. Competition at Enterprise Mobility Head Office and won £150 to support the project. Currently, it is also in a top 5 competition called Action4Impact by SAP Tech4Good.
In March 2025, we presented at the SAP Action4Impact competition and won £1000, this led us to the Action4Impact Grand Finale at ExCel London on 8th April. Hopefully we win!
Other than this, ENACTUS Surrey has also raised £500 for Islamic Society Ramadan and £100 for Hindu Society. They are doing a ThinkPink charity ball, at the end of May where all profits will go to training 10 more women in Sri Lanka to drive and also provide their children with free education for a few months. We are predicted to make a minimum profit of almost £400.
