Welcome to USEC – The University of Surrey Equestrian Club!

At USEC, we offer a range of riding opportunities for all levels, whether you're a competitive rider, a casual equestrian, or a complete beginner. Our club is built on a strong sense of community, fun and passion for horses. Here's what we offer:

BUCS Teams 🏆🐎
For those looking to compete at a high level, USEC has three BUCS teams (A, B, and C), along with a friendly team (D) and a reserve team (R). Teams A, B, C and D compete in three competitions a year, with reserve riders also likely to participate in at least one event. Our BUCS teams compete against other universities, progressing from leagues to regionals and even nationals! Team members benefit from weekly alternating flat and jump lessons, ensuring continuous improvement.

Social Riding 🐴🌿
Looking for a more relaxed riding experience? Social Riding is perfect for those who want to enjoy the sport without the pressure of competitions. We offer flat lessons, jumping lessons, hacking through beautiful countryside and fun gymkhana games. Lessons are grouped by ability and can cater for all!

PlaySport – Learn to Ride! 🏇🎓
Never ridden before? No problem! PlaySport is a six-week beginner’s course that teaches you the basics, from walking and stopping to turning and trotting. The best part? It’s a heavily discounted way to start riding without needing a USEC membership! After completing the programme, you’ll be able to transition into our Beginner Social Riding lessons if you’d like to continue.

Socials & Fundraising – More Than Just Riding! 🎉💃
We’re not just about horses – we also love a good social! We host 1-2 socials per month, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic socials, such as our Pub Golf Bar Crawl 🍻, Cheese & Wine Night 🧀 and themed pres & games nights!

We also give back to the community with fundraising events like wear a bra (or pink!) to training for Breast Cancer Awareness 🎗, Sponsored Walks 🚶‍♀️and many other charity events throughout the year!
