Hi! We are the Model UN society at Surrey. We hold weekly sessions where we simulate, to varying degrees of accuracy, UN debates. Members will debate a predetermined topic, picking a country whose views they want to represent. Everyone is given equal opportunities to speak. Sessions will typically last an hour give or take, with a mostly casual atmosphere.
Occasionally we will organise trips to international Model UN conferences at other universities, mostly in continental Europe, where more attuned members will get a chance to debate at a higher level. These will typically be a bit more competitive.
We are active on Instagram and Whatsapp, with Whatsapp being our primary means of communication for our weekly sessions. We hope to see you there!
