Organised in partnership with student societies, the Students' Union, and the wider university community the week showcases the many cultures, traditions, and global perspectives that make Surrey such a unique and inclusive place to study.

From food and fashion to music, dance, and discussion, One World Week brings people together through shared experiences and the joy of cultural exchange.

A Week of Culture, Connection, and Celebration

Surrey is home to students from across the globe - and One World Week is a chance to recognise, honour, and learn from that diversity. The week features a rich programme of events led by student cultural and international societies, each one designed to highlight the uniqueness of different communities while encouraging unity and cross-cultural dialogue.

What Happens During One World Week?

Every year is different! In past years we have had...

Cultural performances – dance, music, and theatre from around the world
Food festivals – sample authentic cuisine from different countries each day
Parades and showcases – celebrating national dress, traditions, and identity
Workshops and talks – exploring global topics, international experiences, and intercultural learning
Art and exhibitions – student-led visual displays, crafts, and storytelling
Collaborative events – where societies team up to create fusion experiences across cultures

Every day brings something new, with events taking place across campus - in the Union, lecture halls, outdoor spaces, and online.
