The Surrey Teaching and Academic Greatness (STAG) Awards are your opportunity to celebrate the best academic experiences you've had this year.
As your Union, we want to showcase great teaching and teaching support. Why? Well we know that you are the experts in what makes education at Surrey amazing. By celebrating the members of staff who help you excel and develop, we'll be able to show the University what students value.
The Surrey Teaching and Academic Greatness Awards (STAG Awards) are both an important recognition of the members of staff who are making the biggest impact on students, and also a chance for us to push for more of what you want to see.
Nominations closed on Saturday 9 April 2026, with Union Officers reviewing and shortlisting these nominations from Monday 20 April 2026. All nominees were then contacted and winners were announced on Tuesday 12 May 2026 at the STAG awards ceremony taking place in Hari's Bar.
The STAG Awards will return in April 2027.
The Surrey Teaching and Academic Greatness Awards are an opportunity to formally recognise and celebrate the incredible staff at Surrey, who work so hard to support, develop, and inspire students to become the very best they can be. This year, we received over 120 nominations from students celebrating the staff who have made an impact on their time at Surrey. It’s so clear to see how much students value and appreciate the dedication of staff across the University community. I’d like to extend my thanks on behalf of the Union to all the nominees, and congratulations to all the winners!
