121 Listening Service – book your free ticket to have an informal 121 chat with a Talk Together Peer Support Facilitator for 25 minutes.

Time slots: 

• 1800 - 1825
  
• 1830 - 1855
• 1900 - 1925
• 1930 - 2000

Sessions run Tuesday and Thursday evenings, between 6pm and 8pm. You can choose whether you would like your session to be in-person or online.

In-Person Sessions take place in the Surrey Students’ Union, and the address/directions will be shared in your confirmation email. Students must present their student card at the beginning of the session.

Online Sessions take place via Microsoft Teams. Students will be sent a Teams Link up to 24 hours before your session. You can join an online session from wherever you like, as long as it is private and safe to talk openly. At the beginning of the session, students must have their camera on, show their student card, and state their whereabouts. This is to ensure your safety and encourage supportive conversation.

In-person or Online? Whilst we encourage students to come in-person where possible, our aim is for Talk Together to be accessible and for students to feel as comfortable as possible. For example, in-person sessions may be more suitable if you lack privacy in your student accommodation, and online sessions may be a good option if you are a commuter.

 

If you want to make any changes to your booking, including cancelation, you must email ussu.talktogether@surrey.ac.uk.  

 

Students are welcome to talk about anything that’s on their mind. Common topics may include assessment and academic concerns, loneliness, anxiety, or something else that’s going on for them.

Please note: Volunteers are trained to practice empathetic and active listening. They are not there to give advice as they are not professionals and will signpost to relevant services and/or escalate where appropriate.
