In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite students to an open and supportive discussion on the relationship between race, racism, and mental health.
This session will explore how experiences such as racism, discrimination, and microaggressions can impact mental wellbeing, particularly for students from racially minoritised backgrounds. We’ll create space for honest conversation, shared experiences, and reflection, while also recognising that everyone’s journey is different.
The session will also highlight mental health and wellbeing support available at the University and Students’ Union, including how and where to access help.
This is a respectful, confidential, and student-led space. You are welcome to listen, share, ask questions, or simply attend and learn.
The Race Equality Subnetwork is part of the Student Equality Network. Monthly meetings are hosted by the Race Equality Subnetwork leader. The Race Equality Subnetwork has been set up as an opportunity for students to share their experiences and drive meaningful change for race equality. This subnetwork is open to students who self-identify as being from a racial minority ethnic background and/or students who are interested in the topic of race equality.
