We know that resits can be very stressful for you. Sometimes it is a helpful way to delay assessments if you needed it at the time but for others it can be the last chance to complete an assessment to either graduate or progress onto your next level of study, which can feel like a lot of pressure. Whatever situation you are in, we are here to help!

Your Union advice team have put together some helpful information for you below:

  1. All resit schedules were released on Monday 28th July via Surrey Learn and/or your module leader for the relevant assessment. You should now know when your assessment is scheduled (between 11 - 22 August) but if not, we advise you email your module leader and raise a ticket with the Hive here ASAP. You can also reach out to us if you are worried, and we can check for you if needed.

  2. If you are struggling with the upcoming assessments or have any other valid reason where you need an extension or deferral, you can still submit an Extenuating Circumstance form via Self Service. If this sounds like you, find out more about ECs here or get in touch for advice on next steps.

  3. The University have put together useful information regarding exams and there have been changes since the May Assessment Period so please check here. Please note a new change: If you have forgotten your student ID card and have an exam, you will need to visit the MySurrey Hive help desk as soon as possible and request an exam confirmation ID slip. They can print an exam confirmation ID slip for you that you can present to the exam invigilator at your exam venue.

  4. We have a page dedicated to each assessment period called Don't Worry Surrey for everything you need, including information about ECs, technical difficulties, revision tips, how to avoid academic misconduct and other wellbeing support during this time.

  5. As always, email ussu.advice@surrey.ac.uk to get in touch if you need advice. We try and respond on the same day, and will always respond within 48 hours. Your Union academic advisors are on hand to chat through ECs, if you are eligible and the outcomes available to you, as well as any other challenges in the Late Summer Assessment period.

  6. Finally, if you are struggling outside of the academic side of things and need someone to talk to, don't forget there are a range of support services available from the University and your Union. You can find out more here.

Otherwise, we wish you the best of luck! You've got this.
