Your Students' Union is committed to supporting your wellbeing and living your best Surrey life beyond just Wellbeing Week.

We aim to empower and train your fellow students to be able to provide the important peer to peer support in your day to day Surrey life.

One of our key areas for this is the Wellbeing Champions programme.

Wellbeing Champions are students within your clubs and societies who are trained in being able to have difficult conversations on a range of topics including mental health, suicide, arguments and disagreements within your clubs and societies. We also give them guidance on inclusion aims, on how to build community and connection within your clubs and societies and provide comprehensive signposting and resources so that they know how to get further support as needed.

This year sees our largest number of Wellbeing Champions yet, with 293 Wellbeing Champion role being filled across our clubs and societies!

If you feel you need support or want to chat to someone, you can reach out to your Wellbeing Champion and you can trust they will be able to chat or help find you the right support.

 Club Culture

This year in partnership with Team Surrey we have launched a pioneering scheme called Club Culture Training, with the aim to make lasting positive cultural impacts within our student sports teams and wider university.

We know that the vast majority of our students contribute positively to the Surrey community, and we're proud of the welcoming, supportive and inclusive environments our sports clubs create.

We also recognise that students may sometimes experience or witness situations where they're unsure how best to respond, where to seek support, or whether something should be reported.

The training includes, In partnership with production company Real Scenes, a co-created a dramatisation video that brings club culture to life, highlighting an honest reflection of the light and dark of university sport.

Followed by an exploration of harassment, consent and behaviours, both negative and positive, that we can encounter which impact our experience of our teams and university life in general.

This training is mandatory for anyone who purchases a Team Surrey membership and we have been thrilled with the response, with students from across our teams recognising the importance of this and in every kind of team reflecting on how they can take their own next steps in being more inclusive, supportive and safe for all.
