Believers' Loveworld Surrey

Constitution

Aims

Believers’ Loveworld Surrey is a group of Christian students who utilise their faith to prepare for life beyond their degree. We derive doctrines from the Bible and apply them to our academic studies and acquisition of professional experience. We are unique from other Christian groups on campus, in that we believe in various biblical doctrines upon which our faith is founded. An example being “faith”, what it is and how we apply it to our lives. James. 4:14-17 states: “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” Thus, we seek to practically apply our faith in every area of our lives, particularly our academics and professional aspirations. Throughout the year, we will hold faith-infused specialised events to upskill students and prepare them for life beyond the academic environment. We have generated sufficient interest to formally register as a society, and we are excited to open our doors to many more students on campus and empower them to fulfil their dreams!

Existence

The tagline of our society is “Building A Happier World With Love.” However, this is impossible if one is himself unhappy. Having spoken to multiple students on campus, they are unhappy and still in pursuit of their true “purpose”, despite having committed at least three years of their life to pursuing a degree. Our society exists to fill that void, empowering and uplifting students with the Word of God, so that they are encouraged and strengthened to make a difference in their own lives and the world at large. We will hold specialised events throughout the year, such as the “Surrey Network Connect” in June, through which we will provide practical and spiritual support to students in their job search, also offering free LinkedIn headshots for those in need of one. We believe that we are students with a difference, as through our faith, we are empowered to make a practical difference on campus and beyond. An example being our annual December 7th faith-based anniversary, which we celebrate by performing acts of service in our community. This year, we plan to donate food to the university food bank for students in need. We will also be hosting a free to attend Christmas lunch, especially inviting international students who will not be returning home to celebrate Christmas with their family this year. We plan to make a true difference in the lives of many, and manifest the love of God to others through practical demonstrations and expressions of our faith.
