Black Woman Union

Constitution

Aims

To offer a safe and creative, nerdy space for black women in the university of surrey giving people an opportunity to bond over their favourite anime's, shows, hobbies and more. While this society's name has a primary focus on black women, I would love to help create a sense of inclusion for ALL black people, including those that are queer or have a different gender identity! I want all people to feel seen supported and celebrated. This society would hopefully compliment to the African and Caribbean society (ACS) as I feel like it would be a space for what could be considered a low-pressure session! Events can be voted upon by the society

Existence

This society wants to work alongside the ACS helping to fill in the gaps in terms of inclusion . I feel many black students want a place to sit and relax and connect over niche interests. While the African and Caribbean society provides an important cultural space Black Woman's Union would be filling a gap, by offering a complimentary environment.
