Constitution

Aims

• To raise awareness of MSF’s work and the humanitarian issues faced by people in conflicts, epidemics, disasters, and medically underserved settings. • To fundraise for MSF so they can continue providing independent, needs‑based medical care around the world. • To create an inclusive community for students interested in global health, humanitarian medicine, and health equity, centring respect for local communities. • To host talks, workshops, and events with people who have worked in humanitarian and resource‑limited settings, helping students understand both practical realities and ethical questions. • To encourage and inform students who are considering future work in global health or humanitarian contexts, including with MSF or similar organisations.

Existence

Friends of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) at Surrey is a student‑run society that supports MSF’s humanitarian work caring for people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, and exclusion from healthcare, in close collaboration with local health workers and communities. We exist to create a space for students to learn about humanitarian medicine, reflect critically on global health, and stand in solidarity with vulnerable populations through awareness, advocacy, and fundraising.
