We recognize that community and belonging matter, and we saw an opportunity to build a space where that could grow. Our aim is to create a welcoming environment where Black and Brown students feel seen, heard, and valued. A place to connect, support one another, and celebrate identity and culture together.
This society was founded in response to feeling isolated as the only POC in the room. Representation Matters. Being part of a larger community doesn’t always mean every student feels fully seen within it and for Black students in GSA, that can mean navigating spaces without others who share similar experiences at the intersection of race and identity. This society creates room for belonging, support, and visibility, while also making space for culture and celebration. It isn’t about exclusion; it’s about making sure no student has to go without a place built with them in mind. So no one has to be the only one again.
