- Introduce students to consulting in an approachable way through beginner-friendly sessions on what consultants actually do and how the industry works. - Support students applying for Spring Weeks, internships and grad roles by sharing resources, mock interviews, and application guidance. - Host Q&As and talks with Surrey alumni and industry guests so students can hear honest experiences about entering consulting and business roles. - Run practical workshops covering consulting skills, like structuring problems and basic case interviews based on advice from professionals in the industry. - Offer as many interactive sessions as possible, including “case practice circles” where members can practise real consulting cases together in a low-pressure, supportive environment. These sessions will help students build confidence, gain hands-on experience, and have opportunities to network and meet new people. - Build a welcoming society for anyone curious about consulting, whether they’re from Business, Economics, Engineering, Psychology or any other degree.
A lot of Surrey students are interested in consulting, but feel confused about where to start, the industry can seem intimidating if you don’t already have knowledge or connections. This society aims to change that. We hope to offer relaxed, beginner-friendly sessions that break down what consultants actually do, along with practical workshops giving people the opportunity to try things like problem solving and basic case studies in a supportive environment. One of the main goals is to run “case practice circles” in the future, where people can actually practise the kinds of scenarios they might be tested on in interviews and slowly strengthen their problem solving skills. We also hope to bring in guests from the industry for honest Q&As, so people can hear real stories about getting into consulting and ask questions to help them progress. For anyone thinking about Spring Weeks and internships, we aim to share helpful resources and offer support so no one feels lost doing it alone. Overall, the aim is to create a space where students can find genuine support for exploring a future career in consulting, develop useful skills at their own pace, and meet new people along the way. We want everyone to feel more confident, more prepared, and more supported by choosing to join!
