The AI and Entrepreneurship Society (AIES) is for students who wish to do more than merely 'learn' about AI- it's for those who want to build with it, apply it, and turn ideas into impact. Whether you're a coder, a business thinker, a designer, or just curious about how tech, start-ups and AI works, AIES is your space to get involved. These are our aims as a society: -Help students from all backgrounds explore how AI can be used to solve real problems, not just in theory but through hands-on projects. -Give you the tools to turn an idea into something real- from workshops on AI and start-up skills to challenges where you create and present solutions with a team. -Create opportunities to connect with like-minded students across different disciplines- we bring together engineers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and anyone curious about innovation. -Host talks from real-world AI founders, start-up leaders, and tech builders who will provide an insight into what it's really like to launch something in this fast-moving space. -Provide fun, practical ways to grow- from hackathons and pitching competitions to team-based projects and networking events. The core aim of AIES is to give YOU a place to experiment, collaborate and grow without any expertise needed- just your interest and ideas.
There's no society at Surrey quite like the AI and Entrepreneurship Society. Other societies focus on AI theory or business support, however we differentiate ourselves in this matter- we are bringing students together to explore the space between AI and entrepreneurship, in a way that's hands-on, informal and student-first Now- what makes this society compelling? 1. It’s for doers. Students want more than lectures — they’re creative, ambitious individuals who want to build, test, and collaborate on real ideas. AIES gives them the space to do exactly that, in a low-pressure, team-oriented environment. 2. It’s unique. No other society brings together students from across disciplines with a shared interest in tech and startups. Whether you're studying computing, business, engineering, or the arts, this is the space where those passions connect and new ideas take shape. 3. It’s inclusive. You don’t need to have a start-up plan or be “business ready.” AIES is for anyone curious about AI or entrepreneurship — it’s a welcoming space to experiment, gain confidence, and grow your skills alongside like-minded people. 4. It’s all about learning by doing. Whether you’re interested in launching a venture, building a side project, or just picking up new skills, AIES helps you take that first step — by turning ideas into action, and action into experience. At its core, the AI and Entrepreneurship Society exists to empower students- not just to imagine what's possible, but to start creating it.
