Aims
The aim of a Scandinavian Society on campus is to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Scandinavia by creating an inclusive community offering a welcoming space for Scandinavian students to connect. The Scandinavian Society aims to foster a strong sense of belonging among its members by celebrating shared traditions, supporting new students, and providing networking opportunities.
Existence
There is a clear need for a Scandinavian Society at the University of Surrey to provide a dedicated space for the growing number of scandinavian students to connect over our shared cultural heritage. Cultural societies play a vital role in fostering community, and enriching the wider student experience. The university already hosts several successful societies based on national and cultural identity and a Scandinavian Society would build on this precedent while also supporting new students from Scandinavia as they adjust to life in the UK.
