Ukrainian Society

Existence

The purpose of the Ukrainian society in Surrey universities is to provide a platform for Ukrainian students and those interested in Ukrainian culture to come together, share their experiences, and promote Ukrainian culture and traditions within the university community. These societies aim to create a sense of community among Ukrainian students studying in the UK, helping them to adjust to life in a foreign country and providing a support network. Society will also organise cultural events, such as traditional Ukrainian holidays, and language classes, to raise awareness of Ukrainian culture and to give members of the wider university community the opportunity to learn about Ukraine. Overall, the Ukrainian society will serve as an important cultural and social hub for Ukrainian students, while also promoting greater understanding and appreciation of Ukraine among the wider university community. In addition, in light of current war in Ukraine, society can raise funds and collect money for the Ukrainian army and people affected by the war by organising events and charging for ticket and donate a portion of the proceeds to charitable organisations or directly to those affected by the conflict. Additionally, society can set up donation boxes or sell merchandise at their events to further contribute to fundraising efforts. By using these methods, the Ukrainian Society can make a meaningful contribution to supporting Ukrainian army and those affected by the war in Ukraine.
