I’ve been in the club since my first year. I absolutely love the social atmosphere of the club; hence this is my third year as social sec! You can find me at the mad socials, on whitewater (probably upside down), as far from polo as you can get, or surf kayaking. As well as kayaking I love climbing rocks, caving deep dark holes, scuba diving (when I’m actually meant to be underwater) and anything else outdoorsy!

Hi I’m Harry, the Polo president for this year. I will be in charge of the Sunday polo sessions and organising BUCS events throughout the year. I joined last October and have enjoyed every moment (despite the pandemic). During my time in the club, I have made so many friends, as everyone is friendly and welcoming. The sessions are also a great laugh and a good way to spend time with friends in between studying. I can’t wait to see you in October, whether that be on the river or in the pool.

I joined the club in my second year and have paddled on and off throughout my degree. I’m keen to get back into it after lockdown and want to make sure the club is still running for future years! Somehow I’m still crap at Kayaking. Feel that is a skill in itself so I’ll take it.

I’ve been kayaking for more than 10 years now and whitewater kayaking is a great passion of mine. I’m from North Wales so I have been lucky enough to paddle lots of some of the most amazing rivers in the UK very near my house. I love leading and coaching too, and I love introducing new people to the sport! This year I’ll be on the whitewater team with Holly and Leon organising trips, training and competitions. If you have any questions about whitewater stuff, feel free to ask and I’ll be more than happy to help.

Hi I’m Ben, I’ve been paddling for around 6 years, I’ve done rivers, polo, sea kayaking, expeditions, surf ski, surfing, rock hopping and anything else I can try. With rivers and surfing being my current favourites. I’ve paddled in a range of places from Norway, Croatia, Jersey, Scotland and closer to home in the lake district and North Wales (much prefer it in the warmer climates).
I was a complete beginner when I started so don’t let that put you off! I’m happy to help in any way possible, although due to Covid I’ve barely paddled with USCC and have been on the campus less than 5 times so I still consider myself new to USCC.

Hi I’m Hannah. I’ve been a member since my 1st year. This is my second year as a social sec. I enjoy whitewater kayaking and the odd game of canoe polo. But it was mainly the clubs amazing social aspect which kept me around! I have exciting plans for this year – especially due to our recent lack of socialising! I am keen to provide members and non members (everyone’s welcome, bring your friends!) with the most enviable social life at Surrey. This includes socials both in and out of the boat. With barcrawls, housecrawls, karting, Christmas party, and many more!!

Hiya, I’m Holly. I’m part of the whitewater squad this year. The club is an awesome way to experience a really weird and wonderful sport that I never tried until I came to uni. It’s also a great way to meet some super friendly and welcoming people and spend time in the great outdoors. We’ll hopefully be running some awesome trips all around the UK, such as in Scotland, the Lakes and maybe even the Alps (covid permitting!). Please don’t hesitate to shout my name across the river or pool – I’d be super happy to help you out in any way! I really like making new friends – stereotype of being a friendly South African!
