From left to right: Cameron Underwood, Ivan Spooner, Dan Smith, Barra Liddy, Ben Anderson

A great performance from Surrey A’s today, before going through the results just for some context here is the last years BUCS position of teams or their standard:
Nottingham – 4th
Warwick – 9th
Southampton – 10th
Birmingham – 16th
Surrey – 21st
Manchester – Nat Div 3 Team
Warwick OG – Like Warwick but old

Our first game was against a hybrid Birmingham team, this was a good warm up game, getting used to the freezing water and fighting off whatever hangovers remained from the night before.
Our next game was against Warwick, a very strong team who went on to win the tournament, we held our own well but they managed to win 3-0.
We then came up against Warwick OG’s, this was a very even game throughout with many near attempts and shots hitting the bar, but Warwick OG’s eventually came out on top with a 1-0 win.
Our next game was against Nottingham, at this point we were warming up as a team together, Nottingham were tough opponents who managed to win 3-2. With two goals from Cameron Underwood and a with a Nottingham goal that should have been very arguably disallowed, this was a tough but really good match, showing our progress from a year or two ago losing to their B team, to now going 3-1 and 3-2 in recent tournaments.
The previous game had put us in our stride and we met Manchester Wildcats in our next game, after a very tight match with a very close 1v1 effort from Ivan Spooner, a perfect pin point assist from Barra Liddy allowed Cameron Underwood to slot in a 1v1 goal resulting in a 1-0 victory. In our last game we faced friends and rivals in Southampton, after a very fun and competitive game we came away with a 3-0 victory with goals from Daniel Smith and Ben Anderson.
