The Shack is our facility for amateur radio, located at 46AB05 (top floor of AB, just outside the AA/AB lift). It is open to all full EARS members 24/7 via RFID fob access, subject to completion of Shack health and safety training.
In order to operate our amateur radio equipment you MUST hold the appropriate radio licence. We offer the necessary training and examinations for you to become licensed, see our page on amateur radio.
Electronics
The shack has a selection of equipment for electronics, geared toward radio use. In addition to standard equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering irons, we also have more RF focused equipment like a spectrum analyser.
Amateur Radio
For our members who hold amateur radio licences, we have rigs supporting various wavelengths, as well as a PC for SDR.
