In November, your Voice Zone held a Speak Week campaign to gather your views on your student experience. The aim of Speak Week is to offer all students an accessible and engaging opportunity to share their feedback, helping to ensure that students know the Students’ Union is here to amplify the student voice.

The information gathered during Speak Week this year is also directly influencing the development of our new Union strategy, and will also be used to create an Insight Report which will be shared with the University to help us achieve the changes you want to see at Surrey. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views with us, Speak Week was a huge success thanks to you!

  • Students shared their views 883 times in total across all our feedback opportunities
  • 423 students completed our core questions ballot, providing 834 answers across our two core questions: “What would you change if you were in charge of the University”, and “What would you change if you were in charge of the Union”
  • A further 101 responses to the core questions were gathered in person on our Speak Week stall
  • 110 students attended Student Voice Forum
  • We held focus groups and consultations with Course Reps, Union Officers, and our Student Equality Network, with 78 students taking part in these sessions.
  • 160 students voted on their preferred values across our social media and interactive polls on our stall

If you missed the opportunity in November, your Voice Zone is still here to provide you with opportunities to share your feedback throughout the year, whether you share your views with your Course Rep, come along to Student Voice Forum in February, or even by standing for election or casting your vote in our upcoming Union officer elections where students will campaign on the issues that they believe the Union should focus on next year. We always want to hear your views, and keep an eye out in semester two for another Speak Week!
